WELCOME ADDRESS BY GODSWILL WILLIE, FOUNDER, WILLS FOUNDATION, AT THE 2025 WILLS FOUNDATION CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY THEME: "The Season of Joy, Love and Giving."
Distinguished dignitaries, esteemed proprietors and Principals, guests, respected elders, dear parents, volunteers, and most especially, our wonderful children,
Merry Christmas to every one of you.
Today is very special to us. It is a day of joy, laughter, sharing, and reflection. I am deeply honoured to welcome hundreds of children to this Children’s Christmas Party here in my hometown. This gathering reminds us of a simple but powerful truth; "charity begins at home."
Christmas is a season of love, giving, and hope. It is a time that reminds us that every child matters, and every child carries a future worth protecting. Yet, as joyful as this season is, we cannot ignore the reality of the world our children are growing up in.
We are living in a period of what I describe as a generational shift. Sadly, this era is challenged by moral degradation, largely caused by our insatiable quest for money, fame, and material success. Values that once defined our humanity; integrity, discipline, respect, and compassion are gradually being pushed aside.
And when values are lost, our children feel it first.
Children are not born without direction; they are shaped by the environment we create. When society celebrates wealth without work, power without principle, and success without integrity, our children begin to learn the wrong lessons. This is why rebuilding our moral foundation is no longer a choice, it is a responsibility.
In our effort to restructure our moral stand and return to the right principles of human standards, we must remember who we truly are. Man is not merely an economic being chasing survival; man is a moral being, created in the image of God, endowed with dignity, conscience, and responsibility. When this understanding is restored, society finds its balance again.
It is from this conviction that Wills Foundation stands.
Wills Foundation stands to hold the hand of the child. We stand to nurture, guide, and empower children with strong values, love, education, and hope. Today’s celebration is not just about gifts, food, or music. It is about reassurance. It is about telling every child here: you are seen, you are valued, and your future matters.
What we are doing today is more than a Christmas party; it is a statement. A statement that leadership must be humane. A statement that true development begins with people, not projects. A statement that when you lift a child, you lift the future of a nation.
Our mission at Wills Foundation is simple but profound, to raise a generation that thinks well, chooses right, and understands that success is most meaningful when it uplifts others. We believe that education without values is incomplete, and empowerment without ethics is dangerous.
A child taught to read but not taught to reason morally may grow intelligent, yet destructive. But a child raised with strong values becomes a blessing, to family, community, and society at large.
As we celebrate Christmas today, let us remember that the moral rebuilding of our society cannot be outsourced. It begins in our homes, in our communities, and in initiatives like Wills Foundation that are willing to stand in the gap.
Through Wills Foundation, we choose to hold firmly, nurture patiently, and build faithfully, because the future of our society lies in the hands of the children we raise today.
Once again, I wish our children a joyful Christmas and a hopeful New Year.
