The Exit Points of Philosophy.

THE EXIT POINTS OF PHILOSOPHY.

"Philosophy can makes you as famous as Aristotle, it can also makes you as silly as a mad man" which way?

In some regions, Philosophy has lost its popularity because some people seek to find it but can not, while some find it but the ability for them to understand makes them to decline from it.
This is why the Bible says that "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."(Proverb 4:7)
It shows that without understanding, you are just an empty vessel.

One of the distinguishing mark of Philosophy is in its hidden nature. Truelly, Philosophy loved to hide. It hide people from knowing what it is, it also hide people from knowing what it could develop into.

During our previous article on "Philosophy is Philosophy", we noted that "Philosophy has different entrance and different exit, it also has no entrance" You might have wondered what is the exit points of Philosophy...
On this article, our focus shall be on "The Exit Points of Philosophy"
By Exit Points, this article is trying to address the issues of what shall I become with my degree in Philosophy? Yes! A very boring and disturbing issue that sometimes gave beginners in Philosophy a sleepless nights.
Never to worry, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

As a beginner in Philosophy, you have finally entered, perhaps, after a brief mockery from your friends whose names of admission were at the famous courses like law, Medicine, Engineering, Accounting, etc. You have decided to sit back and think where is my exit points? What shall I do with a degree in Philosophy?
You have begun to wonder that perhaps you don't have anything to offer the society since you are "not"(according to your mockers) in a professional course.

Then I want to surprise you by saying "Congratulations" because there is light at the end of the tunnel. A type of light that shall illuminate the tunnel bringing about the glittering reflection of the walls of the tunnel.

Once you enter Philosophy, it  has many excellent exit points. It would now left for you to choose where to exit.

An Architect while drawing a plan for any building will put an entry point and also put an exit point.
While some plans may demand one entry point and one exit point (known in Nigerian Pigin as "one way"), others may demand more than one entry points and exit points.
This is always done to fit the purpose of the building.

This idea of entry points and exit points is not only in architectural work, we have it randomly in almost all faces of life, we also have it in our various academic field of studies.
While a Medical Student exit point may be in the hospital or pharmacy, treating and prescribing drugs to the patient, a Law student exit point is at the chamber or law firm. The exit point of an accounting Student is to be an accountant be it at the bank or wherever his or her services may be required. An Engineering Student exit point is where structures are set. etc
All these field of studies mentioned above have what we can tag "one way" exit point or mono-exit point. But Philosophy Exit Points are numerous. Philosophy is a vast and dynamic field of inquiry with an ever-evolving intellectual landscape. It actually impacts all of our daily lives and permeates virtually every aspect of human culture.
Encompassing broad subject areas like that of Justice which lawyers are into, ethics, history, aesthetics, logic and Metaphysics. Etc. Philosophy has no boundaries. It is as a tree with variety of branches.
Hence, as a Philosophy Student, your exit point can be as a lawyer, an Engineer (ask Thales), a teacher, a Journalist, a good designer (with the knowledge of aesthetics), a scientist, and whatever you desire to be.
With Philosophy, you are like an encyclopedia of all professions because you are not tied down to one doctrine. You are versatile and competent enough to do anything.

Do you Know now that Philosophy can take you to wherever you want?

Now that you know, Be happy and remain focus.. for Philosophy is taking you to your destination.

Mistaken Beliefs about Philosophy (Misconceptions)

MISTAKEN BELIEFS ABOUT PHILOSOPHY (MISCONCEPTIONS) "Oh gosh! How can I dine in the table of the occult? I mean what do you think I would tell my mom, that I'm studying what! Philosophy? No, no, no.... I mean my parents wouldn't have let me rest. Philosophy is worst than hell" said Jane a 16years old girl during a conversation with her friends.   I would have taken it as a mere adolescent talk but getting in touch with Jane's parents I realized that Jane was serious in her remarks. Maybe Mom and Dad had given Jane a pre-orientation about Philosophy but on a negative angle.   People always have a negative way of defining things hence creating a negative impression about such things.
